Using adaptations of the center-ring snowflake from an earlier post, I've been covering rings like a mad fool. I've made two of these using Flora size 20 ecru thread (which is acceptable for the Festival of Trees), two with Day and Night Rainbow thread (a size 30), and one with Lizbeth Christmas thread (a red, green and white size 20 colorway). My dad has one of the rainbow ones, and the Christmas thread one. Hey! When he says he likes 'em he's stuck with them! I happened on two sleeves of bangles in a bargain bin, one is just silver-color and the other is silver and shades of green. I've got two hundred bangles to cover -- that's a lot of ornaments!

My goodness, those green earrings are absolutely gorgeous! The sheen on that beautiful thread is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful hoops! That tree for the festival of trees is going to look absolutely smashing with those ornaments! WOW! I'm surprised you're not doing any of your gorgeous covered ornament designs on the tree! Oh, well, happy tatting!
These are great!
ReplyDeleteI bought some bangles and some rings with the idea of tatting around them. If only I could remember where I put them! I also need to read up on tatting over a ring.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow, these are so pretty! I really like the rainbow colored one.
ReplyDeleteThey make very pretty earrings too! I'm sure your sister will love them!
They're lovely. You're so lucky to find the sleaves of bangles. You're going to be busy if you have 200 to cover. I can see your wrists smoking from here!
ReplyDeleteThese are all cute, and size 80 for earrings - impressive work!
ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful, are you going to share the pattern...pretty please or have you already done so. maybe I missed it.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love the way it looks in the rainbow thread! That one looks more like a flower than a snowflake to me. Well OK, maybe a flower from another planet. Anyway, it's gorgeous. And the green ones make me think St. Patrick's Day.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. I'm working on the pattern, but I keep changing it! It doesn't look much like what I first drew out and I've changed it from that, so I need to get it down on paper. Then I do plan to share (because writing a book is just too much trouble!)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marty, we will look forward to it. A lot of effort for you I know.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the ecru one and the larger format. Beautiful tatting and fantastic design, Marty. Cannot wait for the pattern! : ) Fox
ReplyDeleteLovely! post a pattern, what delicate work! The earrings are wonderful. Must try this!
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful, Marty! I love this pattern and the colors. I must check out the earlier post and go buy some rings and bangles.
ReplyDeleteAll of them are very cool!
ReplyDeleteMarty, these are great! I wish I knew where you are finding these bangles and rings. Maybe when your ready with your pattern, you can make kits to sell with the pattern and the needed pieces. hint ;-)
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous, every one of them!
