is a wonderful book full of ... well ... elegant tatting gems. Lovely snowflakes made using basic techniques. I've been working my way through the book, but have NOT been weaving in ends. Those will have to wait until later. For now, these are the ones I test-tatted for Jon. At least three of them are. I'm just certain the other one is one of Jon's as well, because I had it stored with the other three, but I can't find it in any book. Anybody that recognizes it, please speak up! All of these test-tats were made with size 80 DMC tatting thread. My sister dyed all that white thread really pretty colors, didn't she?
There! Jon got me all straightened out -- thanks so much. It was one of the test tat patterns she sent, so it does belong with the others, after all. She modified the design after the test-tat and it became Ratnawilis in her new book. The change is really pretty -- but I haven't gotten that far in the book yet.

Marty, the other one was the one of the first few that I gave for test-tatting. I have since modified the design and it has transformed into "Ratnawilis".

You should try the magic thread for hiding ends. Instant gratification.
But don't forget to add the thread for one of the end. Or make sure you don't mess up your DS else it won't go through. Or pulling the wrong thread. Or leaving the quilting thread long so that you won't accidentally pull it out...
I love your sister's hand-dyed threads! They really show off your beautiful tatting and Jon's wonderful designs. The snowflake in question does look familiar, but I can't remember where I've seen it.
All of your test tats look delicate and perfectly cheerful in those gorgeous colors.
I do not recognize the mystery flake. Could it have been one of Jon's that didn't make it into the pattern book? I love the shape and flow of mystery flake! If you do find the source for it, please oh please share!
Jon, thanks for setting me straight. It's good to know it did belong with the others, and I wasn't just imagining things. I actually like both versions -- I haven't gotten to Ratnawilis in the book yet!
